There was a heart patient who needed another stent implant but there were already two stents in the same location and adding a third stent to clear the blockage was not recommended. To solve the problem, the cardiac surgeon used a technique that was developed for cancer treatment – the use of a radioactive seed. He sent the seed up to the blockage on a catheter, just like the stent implant transport method, and used the radioactive seed to burn-away the blockage!
Now, that’s “thinking out of the box”!
